FAQ
Where are you located?
215 Main Street, New Paltz. You can park in the lot behind the building, walk to the front and come up the porch to find our black doors.
What are your business hours?
Our stylists work varied schedules and see clients by appointment only. If you need a specific day or time that you don’t see available with your chosen stylist, please contact them directly for help or use our convenient waitlist option. Work hours are subject to change. Please note that we generally only see clients by appointment and can not guarantee that someone will be available in the salon if you choose to walk in without one.
How do I get an appointment?
Easy! You can click on any of the BOOK buttons right here on this site. There is also a waitlist option available right on the same page where you choose your appointment, in case you’d like to try to get lucky and grab something sooner that may become available. You will be required to enter credit card information, to reserve your spot. You will not be charged unless you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice. Please read the cancellation policy on our policy page for more details.
I have wavy/curly/coily hair. Which appointment should I book for?
If this is your first time seeing one of our curly specialists and you are wavy or curly, please book a ‘two hour natural texture specialist service’. If you have been in our chair before, you may book the appropriate ‘return client’ service. All of our services are charged according to an hourly rate, and are gender free. We may sometimes make adjustments to your time as needed. If you have further questions about this, reach out directly to your stylist.
If you need color as well as a haircut, you MUST book a consultation before your service will be approved. You can book a consultation right there on the booking page. Please note that we require a consultation before approving a new color client request. This consult will help us better understand what you need, how much time we will require to schedule it and what tools/products we’ll need for your service. We will also discuss cost at your consult. A consultation does not guarantee an approved service appointment.
What are your COVID19 safety protocols for services in the salon?
Thanks for asking! We are all masking in the salon and do require that our clients wear an ear loop mask as well, for the entirety of their appointment.
How should I prepare and arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive with your hair washed, detangled (there will be an extra fee for excessive detangling time), and fully dry. Please use a minimal amount of styling products (no heavy oils or butters) on the day of your appointment, and wear your hair in a “wash and go” style, or as you would normally wear it with your natural texture. Do not wear your hair in a ponytail, bun, braids or any other pulled up style that will alter your natural curl pattern the day of your appointment. These directions are extremely important and we reserve the right to reschedule your service if you do not follow them.
To prepare your hair for your first curly/wavy cut or color appointment, we highly recommend you detox it a week or two before coming in, with a clarifying shampoo. This is to remove build up and heavy products or metals from water. If you arrive for your appointment with build up, we may have to detox it before we can accurately assess your texture, which will add additional cost (time) to your service.
If you use any of these products, you likely need to detox your hair before coming in: Shea Moisture, Aussie, Cantu, Wen, Maui Moisture, Ecostyler, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Creme of Nature, essential oils, raw butters or any products with super heavy oils and butters in them.
Recommended clarifying shampoos are MalibuC Undoo Goo and AG Hair Renew.
I tried to contact you through Instagram, Facebook, a voicemail, etc, and haven’t gotten a response yet.
The best way to book an appointment is via our booking site. During business hours, we have our hands busy in hair and get very limited free time to answer calls or messages. Outside of business hours, we dedicate our attention to our families and personal lives. If you absolutely can not use our booking system for some reason, you can text your stylist at the number provided for them on the booking site and they will get back to you as soon as possible, but please understand that this will take some time, due to busy schedules in salon.
What products do you use in the salon?
We’re currently using Innersense Organic Beauty, Hairstory, Cult & King, AG Hair and Afterworld Organics, although we are always testing new products for textured hair. We use mostly Guy Tang and Pravana color lines.
We do not sell retail stock on our shelves, but utilize online affiliate links with the companies we love.
